Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented IR Technologist to join our imaging team. The IR Technologist may be responsible for dual roles as a radiographic/fluoroscopic technologist and/or Scrub Tech. Requires competency utilizing multiple imaging techniques for localization and anatomical coverage. Must demonstrate proper use of the imaging equipment to include radiographic/fluoroscopic, computed tomography and/or ultrasound. Must have knowledge of vascular bolus timing for rapid-sequence filming and the proper use of power injection systems. Knowledge and practice of sterile tray setup, maintaining a sterile field and all equipment needed for procedures. Assists the Radiologist in vascular or anatomical access and readiness for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures while always maintaining the sterile environment. 


Essential Job Functions: 

  • Stocks and prepares rooms for sterile procedures, always maintaining a clean environment with readiness for the next patient. Maintains inventory for all potential procedures.
  • Diagnostic technologist/scrub tech assists the Radiologist in the successful completion of examination or therapeutic procedures.
  • Maintains sterile environment to include trays, operable field, power injection systems and all imaging equipment.
  • Obtains clinical information, pre-operative lab values and acquires any outside or pre-operative imaging for the safe planning of all procedures in conjunction with the Interventional Radiologist.
  • Assists Nursing as may be required to prepare patients for procedures and understands their role in the team dynamics.
  • Mindfulness of ALARA principles in all radiographic procedures, utilizing proper shielding for safe patient and operator practice.
  • Maintains equipment in accordance with policy, assists in scheduling preventive maintenance as required and reports any equipment issues promptly to management for timely intervention or repair.
  • Obtains high-quality imaging, ensures all acquired imaging is properly transferred to PACS and closes procedures in a timely manner in EPIC and PACS.
  • Conducts regular review of all supplies for upcoming expiration dates and replaces as may be necessary. Maintains PAR-Level minimum supply inventory for all potential procedures at all times.
  • Positions patients for rapid sequence filming during contrast media administration.
  • Anticipates Radiologists' needs by review of preference cards and procuring appropriate supplies.
  • Demonstrates cost effectiveness by using judgment when opening and using supplies.
  • Operates the x-ray equipment when assigned to Radiology Tech duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education & Training:

  • Graduation from a JCAHO Accredited School of Diagnostic Radiology, Prior Operating Room and/or Interventional Radiology experience as a technologist preferred. 

Experience: 

  • 1-year prior Scrub Tech experience; 2 Years Radiology Tech

License / Certification: 

  • Required: ARRT (R), CRT in both radiographic and fluoroscopy (Fluoro license may be obtained within 6 months of hire) 
  • Preference given for ARRT CV or CI advanced registry. Advanced CT registry while not required is a preference as well. IR Tech may be asked to perform diagnostic computed tomography examinations.

Salary Description
$39.00–$47.00 / hour
