Job Title: Aftercare Site Director

Classification: Non-exempt/Full Time

Reports to: Principal

Salary: $21.22 an hour

Typical hours: Monday - Friday 10:30 am - 6:00 pm

Summary
Julie Billiart Schools is a network of schools serving children in grades K–8 with special learning challenges. Currently there are campuses in Akron, Brecksville, Lyndhurst, and Westlake that offer unique learning environments for students with autism, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, and social learning challenges. We are Catholic, non public schools that respect diverse faith traditions.

About the Opportunity
The Aftercare Site Director supports students throughout both the instructional day and after school programming. This role assists the classroom teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and effective learning environment while also coordinating and leading the school’s aftercare program. The ideal candidate is flexible, student centered, collaborative, and passionate about supporting children academically, socially, and emotionally.

Essential Duties

Student Supervision and Support

Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, transitions, and other non instructional times

• Maintain active supervision of students to ensure safety, structure, and positive behavior expectations

• Support students during daily routines and transitions throughout the school day and aftercare program

• Assist students with organization, problem solving, conflict resolution, and social interactions

• Support staff in maintaining consistent behavioral expectations across classrooms and school environments

• Respond calmly and appropriately to student needs, behaviors, and unexpected situations throughout the day

• Help create a positive, safe, and engaging environment for students across both academic and after school settings 

Aftercare Coordination
• Coordinate and oversee the daily operations of the aftercare program
• Plan and implement engaging aftercare activities including homework support, physical activities, quiet play, and enrichment opportunities
• Ensure the safety, supervision, and well being of students participating in aftercare at all times
• Create a positive, structured, and inclusive aftercare environment
• Communicate with families regarding aftercare needs, student concerns, and program updates
• Collaborate with school staff to support continuity between the school day and aftercare programming
• Maintain aftercare attendance records and assist with billing procedures as directed
• Purchase supplies and snacks for the aftercare program following school reimbursement procedures
• Assist in training and supporting aftercare staff as applicable
• Ensure aftercare spaces are cleaned and organized at the end of each day

Communication and Collaboration
• Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Maintain open and professional communication with teachers, administrators, and parents
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as requested 

Requirements

 

Education and Work Experience
• Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred
• Experience working with children with multiple learning abilities preferred

Required Job Qualifications
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Patience, flexibility, and enthusiasm for working with children
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills
• Ability to manage student behaviors using positive reinforcement and proactive support strategies
• Ability to supervise and engage groups of students in both academic and recreational settings
• Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred
