This is a seasonal position available May–August.
Position Summary: Clubhouse Bartenders at Bellerive Country Club (“Bellerive”) prepare, pour, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. This role requires knowledge of mixology, including food and wine pairings, and professional wine presentation and service. Bartenders ensure a high-quality experience for Members and guests while complying with all legal and Bellerive requirements.

- Provides attentive, personalized service to Members and guests, ensuring every interaction reflects Bellerive’s commitment to hospitality and professionalism.
- Maintains a well-stocked, clean, and organized bar at all times by efficiently completing pre-opening, service, and closing procedures to ensure seamless operations.
- Prepares and serves beverages accurately and artfully, adhering to established recipes, presentation standards, and safety protocols to deliver a superior experience.
- Upholds all Bellerive policies and state laws regarding responsible alcohol service, safety, and sanitation while maintaining precise control over inventory and revenue processes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Inspect and stock the bar(s) before opening; monitor inventory and request supplies as needed.
- Prepare garnishes, fruit mixes, and pre-mixed drinks according to set-up procedures.
- Greet Members and guests professionally.
- Prepare, mix, and serve drinks for Members, guests, and Servers, following approved recipes.
- Record and collect payments accurately.
- Report Member or guest complaints promptly to management.
- Clean and secure the bar(s) according to closing procedures.
- Ensures proper storage, labeling, dating, and rotation of all food and beverage items to maintain safety.
- Attend staff meetings, pre-shift line-ups, and training sessions as required.
- Follow all laws and Bellerive policies regarding alcoholic service, including refusal of service when necessary.
- Practice beverage and revenue control procedures consistently.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Bar (Beverage) Manager or other members of Bellerive’s leadership team.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
- Must have the ability to responsibly refuse or slow alcoholic service when necessary.
- Must have the ability to comply with safety and sanitation standards.
- Must have basic proficiency in Bellerive’s POS system or similar POS system(s).
- Must have the ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEO).
- Must have strong management, multitasking, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have professionalism and interpersonal skills to work effectively with employees (“Team Members”) and Members at all levels.
- Must have clear and fluent communication in English, both written and verbal.
- Must have the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and sound judgment.
- Must have the ability to travel as required/necessary.
- Physical ability to perform essential functions, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
Qualifications / Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality or a related field, or in pursuit thereof, preferred.
- Alcohol beverage and food safety certification required.
- Hepatitis A vaccination is required per St. Louis County regulations.
- Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Minimum one (1) year bartending experience required; prior private club experience preferred.
