Description
Electrical Estimators factor all potential costs involved with any Diamondback Electrical projects, such as labor, materials, location, how long the job will last, and any special requirements that might be needed. Some projects may or may not include projections on the cost of overhead, insurance, taxes, subcontractors, and even how the weather and time of the year may affect the work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Estimate for Commercial and Industrial projects.
- May attend pre-bid meetings or job interviews as required.
- Evaluates bid documents to determine the overall scope of the project.
- Determine all documentation required for bid submittal; determine who should review or contribute information necessary to complete bid (i.e. bid bond, OCIP, etc.).
- Reviews plans and specifications to identify types and grades of materials, what quotes to solicit, and what resources will be required to complete bid in compliance with project requirements and bid deadlines.
- Contact vendors and review plans and specifications to obtain vendor quotes.
- Reviews quoted bill of material for accuracy.
- Performs quantity takeoff to determine labor, materials and fixtures, equipment, and tools necessary for intended scope of work.
- Prepares scope letter to define bid specifics, alterations, etc.
- Continually evaluates progress of bid project concerning bid deadline and requests estimating resources as required.
- Finalizes an accurate, competitive, and profitable bid proposal for the project.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficiency with Accubid Software or a comparable program.
- Knowledge of tools and principals involved in the production of electrical plans, blueprints, and drawings.
- Experience with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, and change orders.
- Knowledge of estimating principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
- Knowledge of suppliers and supplier databases applicable to project specifications.
- 1+ year minimum experience estimating in commercial/industrial electrical construction.
- Four years of experience in the electrical field.
- A high school education or equivalent GED.
Salary Description
$60,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
