Description

The Sea Bulk Operator is responsible for the safe and accurate loading and scaling of sea bulk containers. This role owns the end-to-end execution of the loading process, including verification of order details, correct product alignment, scale accuracy, completion of all required paperwork, and system order completion. The Sea Bulk Operator performs the actual loading and scaling activities and is accountable for ensuring all documentation and system transactions are complete and accurate.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Verify order details against booking and loading instructions prior to loading. 
  • Ensure correct hopper car, product grade, and container are aligned before loading. 
  • Ensure liner installation and placement is accurate prior to loading.
  • Confirm transfer equipment is clean and properly set up between orders. Perform a blowdown when needed, following the standard work instructions.
  • Sample each railcar compartment and inspect the sample for non-conformances.
  • Connect transfer hoses to the correct railcar compartments using proper safety controls. 
  • Insert, monitor, and adjust the stinger during loading operations. 
  • Load seabulk containers safely while monitoring for spills, fines, or abnormalities. 
  • Ensure liners are properly secured and containers are properly sealed after loading is complete. 
  • Scale containers accurately and verify weights per order requirements. 
  • Pick and complete orders on the scan gun after loading. 
  • Complete and verify all required paperwork and scale tickets. 
  • Submit completed documentation to Dispatch or as directed. 
  • Perform housekeeping in the sea bulk loading area throughout the shift. 
  • Report spills, quality concerns, or unsafe conditions immediately. 
  • Follow the line-up, loading schedule, and priorities provided by the Sea Bulk Supervisor.
  • Communicate with the yard jockey to ensure constant and accurate staging, scaling and placement of the empty and loaded containers, following the provided schedule.
  • Add productivity or downtime related notes to Quantix operational monitoring system, Shoplogix.
Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months sea bulk loading experience (preferred). 
  • Safety-conscious and quality-focused. 
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation accuracy. 
  • Knowledge of resin grades and cross-contamination risks. 
  • Effective communicator.

  • Ability to work outdoors and inside containerized and loading environments in varying weather conditions. 
  • Ability to work in hot and humid conditions, including elevated temperatures during summer months. 
  • Willingness to work modified or early morning shifts as scheduled to support heat stress prevention and operational safety. 
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. 
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. 
  • Willingness to work weekends or holidays based on customer demand.
