Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with strong knowledge of government contracting accounting practices and hands-on experience with Deltek systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in payroll, billing, pricing, budgeting, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting within a government contracting environment. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in an office setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Process and review payroll activities to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and manage customer billings in accordance with government contract requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and pricing activities.
  • Support proposal pricing and cost analysis for government contracts.
  • Monitor project budgets and analyze budget-to-actual variances.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support audits and compliance reviews.
  • Perform account reconciliations and analyze variances.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, DCAA, and other government contracting regulations.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers and leadership on contract financial performance.
  • Maintain and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.


Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4–8 years of accounting experience, preferably in government contracting.
  • Strong experience using Deltek software (Costpoint preferred).
  • Solid knowledge of:
    • Payroll processing
    • Billing and invoicing
    • Budgeting, forecasting, and pricing
    • General Ledger (GL)
    • Month-end and year-end close
  • Understanding of government contracting regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in a professional office environment.
