The Dispatch Manager position will be responsible for the efficient scheduling of our drivers and meeting our customers’ requirements. This is a second shift position, hours 12-9pm Monday through Friday. As a dispatcher you will interact with our drivers, customers, other operations personnel (including Safety, Customer Service, Repair Shop, Warehouse, Import/Export, and Executive) departments. Scheduling and monitoring of drivers will be done through our company dispatch software Profit Tools, Samsara, Disc Mobile, DPS interfaces. The successful candidate will be able to work with all our drivers by describing the customer requirements in detail, while taking into account the driver’s safety status and his/her personal life components.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages assigned drivers and is responsible for the performance management and ongoing documentation of the Drivers.
Work Environment
This position is performed predominantly indoors, sitting at a desk. Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Requires sitting for a prolonged period. Requires dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper. Requires occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. Requires minimum reaching for items above and below desk level. Requires strength, coordination, and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position. The hours of work are Monday through Friday, 45 hours (minimum) per week.
Required Education and Experience
2+ years of company driver management experience required. Must provide demonstrated history of Intermodal Dispatching, troubleshooting experience, computer proficiency, and ability to train others.
Preferred Education and Experience
5+ years of demonstrated history of Intermodal Dispatching with excellent working understanding of rail procedures. Must have current, excellent knowledge of all related DOT, state & federal regulations/laws. Should have knowledge of general dispatch software and related maintenance issues important to successful day to day dispatch responsibilities. Working knowledge of Profit Tools Dispatching Software desired.
