Position Summary
We are seeking a flexible, short-term contractor to support the Volunteer Department. This position will assist with volunteer engagement, training, communication, and deployment coordination, particularly during disaster response activities. Work hours will fluctuate based on organizational needs and disaster activity, ranging from 0–40+ hours per week.
This role requires someone who is highly adaptable, responsive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where schedules and workload may change quickly.

- Anticipated Start: Training begins early July 2026
- Active Coverage Period: End of July / Beginning of August 2026 through End of October / Beginning of November 2026
- Hours: Variable based on operational needs (0 hours/week-40+ hours/week)
- Small-scale disaster response: approximately 25 hours/week
- Large-scale disaster response: 40+ hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day volunteer engagement activities
- Assist with volunteer communication and coordination
- Help manage volunteer deployment activities during disaster response
- Participate in and complete required onboarding/training (2–3 days)
- Be available on-call for disaster-related volunteer support needs
- Assist with volunteer scheduling and tracking
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Volunteer Department
- Maintain professionalism and responsiveness in high-pressure situations
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with volunteers, community engagement, or nonprofit programs
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and schedules
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to respond to urgent or time-sensitive situations
- Flexible availability, including potential evenings/weekends during disaster response periods
- Proficiency with basic office and communication tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in disaster response, emergency management, or humanitarian services
- Experience coordinating volunteers in dynamic environments
- Familiarity with training facilitation or onboarding processes
Work Environment
This position may fluctuate between minimal weekly hours and full-time emergency response support depending on disaster activity and volunteer engagement needs. Candidates should be comfortable with uncertainty in scheduling and workload. Location of work will vary depending on need. Potential locations include ADRN HQ, Remote, and/or disaster site.
