Description

The Head of Commodity is responsible for defining and executing the Commodity Purchasing strategy, ensuring cost competitiveness, supplier performance, pricing governance, and supply chain continuity, and is fully accountable for cost performance, supplier performance, pricing accuracy, and material availability


Responsibilities

• Define and execute sourcing and AVL strategy, drive supplier base optimization and benchmarking 

• Lead Commodity Managers and ensure alignment of sourcing activities with business and technology roadmap 

• Manage negotiations and deliver cost savings through structured cost reduction initiatives, cost analysis, and elimination of inefficiencies 

• Own RFx/RFQ processes and ensure accurate pricing management, price trend monitoring, and timely implementation, support EMS quotations 

• Lead supplier lifecycle management (selection, qualification, onboarding, phase-out), scouting, performance (QBRs), and escalations (commercial, quality, supply) 

• Negotiate and manage supplier contracts and commercial agreements, including ODM/JDM partnerships and cost optimization initiatives 

• Monitor market, supplier, and technology trends; collect supplier roadmaps and coordinate alignment with R&D 

• Act as focal point for supply chain topics: forecast sharing, shortages/excess, EMS coordination, and escalation management 

• Manage material-related activities including PCN, demand monitoring, planning support, lead-time reduction, supply strategies (safety stock, obsolescence), multi-source allocation, and material KPIs 

• Define targets and ensure achievement through KPI tracking and structured reporting (savings, pipeline, potential and RTC) 

• Ensure supplier compliance and adherence to company policies 

• Maintain procurement tools and dashboards and drive digitalization and automation/AI initiatives 

• Build strong stakeholder relationships and lead, develop, and mentor the Commodity 



Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering, MBA is a plus.

• 10+ years’ experience in a procurement role.

• 7 years’ strategic sourcing experience with expertise in influencing business strategy and vendor relations.

• 5 years’ experience in management and leading cross divisional teams.

• Strong influencing skills that can be used to lead teams and build partnerships with internal resources and external partners.

• Exceptional negotiation skills.

• Exceptional cost saving track record.

• Experienced in diversifying the supply chain approach for cost saving.

• Demonstrated experience in developing, enhancing, and implementing sourcing/supply chain processes and tools.

• Long Standing experience in commodity and supplier management

• Superior communication skills (cross-functional, cross-cultural) over all hierarchy levels

• Strong self-management sets proper priorities, able to coordinate and influence cross functional teams.

• Proactive working style and ability to work on multiple tasks in cross functional teams.

• Working experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.

• Fluent in English.
