Magnify of Central Florida is seeking a dependable, people-focused Supported Employment Specialist to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in finding and maintaining employment within the community.
This is a hands-on, direct-service role that works directly with clients in real workplace settings throughout the community. The position focuses on job coaching, employment support, employer communication, and helping individuals succeed in competitive employment environments. This is not primarily a clinical, counseling, or office-administration role.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Assist individuals with disabilities in preparing for employment opportunities
• Help with resumes, applications, interviewing, and workplace readiness
• Provide job coaching and on-site support at community job locations
• Support individuals during onboarding and training periods
• Build positive relationships with local employers and community partners
• Monitor client progress and provide ongoing employment-retention support
• Complete required documentation and service notes
• Travel between employer locations, client sites, and community settings throughout the workday
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet state qualification requirements for Supported Employment Services through a combination of education and/or related experience.
Relevant experience may include:
• Job coaching
• Disability services
• Workforce or employment support
• Behavioral support
• Vocational rehabilitation
• Community support services
• Human services or related fields
Examples of qualifying backgrounds may include:
• Associate degree plus related experience
• Bachelor’s degree plus related experience
• Several years of hands-on related work experience may substitute for the above-mentioned degrees
Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is required.
CERTIFICATION/TRAINING
Employees providing Supported Employment Services must complete required Supported Employment certification/training consistent with program and state requirements. Training assistance may be provided after hire.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Valid Florida Driver’s License required
• Reliable transportation required
• Ability to travel throughout the community during the workday
• Ability to pass required background screenings and training requirements
• Ability to work in active community and workplace environments
