Description

Reporting to the Director of Advancement Operations, the Data Services Analyst is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-exempt position which holds responsibility for critical aspects of the Advancement services and data functions for LSTC’s Advancement office. The Analyst’s portfolio includes reporting and analysis; maintaining data integrity and the overall health of the database; serving as Raiser’s Edge knowledge expert, database manager and training coordinator; and playing an instrumental role in supporting all fundraising initiatives including events, annual giving, and major gift prospect development.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:


Advancement Reporting and Analysis

  • Build and create regular and ad hoc reports to show fundraising performance
  • Use analytics strategies to evaluate and assess fundraising initiatives, appeals, team performance, constituent engagement, prospect identification, and make financial projections
  • Respond to internal or external requests for data and queries to facilitate core operational functions or answer questions to help drive decision-making 
  • As a member of the Advancement Operations team, part of various projects to update records, assist with communications, and support operational improvements
  • Manage annual reporting requirements for external and partner organizations, auditors, and accreditors

Data Integrity and Health of the Database

  • Bear primary responsibility for health and integrity of Raiser’s Edge constituent database
  • Strategically identify data entry errors and create mechanisms to lessen occurrences
  • Identify global issues affecting database and recommend paths to correct or improve 
  • Maintain constituent data as one of key team members responsible for clean and reliable constituent data
  • Review and reconcile gift transactions, ensuring proper data feed to Financial Edge and working with Finance department to address and resolve discrepancies
  • Schedule and coordinate regular uploads and data transfer from internal and external sources

Database Management and Training

  • Grant, manage, and maintain proper database access through standard protocols 
  • Create training regimens for all access levels, using Blackbaud resources and LSTC instruction
  • Represent Advancement in institution-wide projects relating to data sharing, security, and use
  • Trouble shoot issues as needed with Blackbaud, PaperSave and other providers
  • Serve as subject matter expert for various current and future database tools 
  • Plan where department makes future improvements based on enhancements available 

Support for key initiatives and processes

  • Provide support for events such as Homecoming and Giving Day, particularly providing expertise on using technology to increase success
  • Play lead role creating and maintain processes and data operations that support effective prospect and moves management and success tracking
  • Create queries and data pulls as needed to plan for visits and campaigns
  • Through wealth screening, analytics, and other ranking tools, define and refine prospect ratings and determine where qualification and cultivation of donors should be focused
  • Serve as key member or the annual giving team, driving segmentation, analyzing donor behavior and appeal performance 


Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required
  • Experience providing functional support in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills. Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workflow
  • Ability to conduct professional, high-level conversations with donors and maintain confidentiality on a variety of sensitive topics
  • Expert skills using Excel and other tools to manage and analyze data sets
  • Extensive Raiser’s Edge knowledge and experience creating queries, exports, dashboards, and reports  
  • Demonstrated experience creating data visualizations to illustrate trends and performance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in seminary, higher-education, nonprofit, or church-related environment
  • Advanced degree or certificates with analytics, data operations and statistics

Special Demands/Requirements:

  • Ability to work occasional additional hours and some evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work independently in-office and remotely as needed
