Description
Job Overview: The Fleet Assistant supports daily vehicle operations across Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois' South Elgin and Elgin clubhouses. This role is responsible for completing bi-weekly vehicle inspections, keeping vehicles clean and fueled, and reporting any concerns to the Facilities & Fleet Coordinator. The Fleet Assistant will work across a fleet of 9 vehicles with 3 additional vehicles anticipated by end of June, playing a key role in keeping the organization's growing fleet ready for program use.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Inspections & Documentation:
- Conduct bi-weekly vehicle inspections across a fleet of 9 vehicles and complete required documentation accurately and on time
- Identify and report vehicle concerns, damage, or maintenance needs to the Facilities & Fleet Coordinator promptly
Basic Vehicle Upkeep:
- Clean vehicle interiors and exteriors on a regular basis
- Fuel vehicles as needed to ensure they are ready for use
- Check fluid levels and tire condition and report any concerns to the Coordinator
Additional Responsibilities:
- Complete additional tasks and duties as assigned by the Facilities & Fleet Coordinator
Travel:
- Regular travel between the South Elgin Clubhouse (SECH) and Elgin Clubhouse (ECH) to support fleet operations at both locations
- Occasional travel for other job-related tasks as needed
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting
- Willing and eligible to complete training to drive a 12 to 15-passenger van
- Reliable transportation to travel between South Elgin and Elgin locations
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety standards
- Flexibility to travel between locations as required
- Ability to perform physical tasks throughout facilities, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Experience with vehicle inspections, fleet support, or transportation coordination a plus
- DOT knowledge a plus
- First Aid/CPR certification a plus
