Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily operations of the Human Resources function at designated location, including legal compliance, talent management, performance management, training, and organizational development.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to plan, lead, coordinate, and execute yearly and quarterly strategic initiatives.
  • Guide and assist management staff with employee relations and disciplinary issues.
  • Manages employment eligibility (I-9) process; completes verifications of employment; maintains updated forms, records, and personnel files; acquires background reports; processes new hires and terminations.
  • Oversees benefit communication and education for Kentucky including enrollment, change reporting.
  • Lead continuous effort toward building a diverse and inclusive work environment and labor force.
  • Collaborate with hiring manager and HR team members to fill positions as applicable.
  • Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, Kentucky, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Measure, monitor, and create strategies around company culture and employee engagement.
  • Liaison between the North Mankato office and Kentucky office, building relationships, facilitating discussions, assisting with connections, and closing gaps where necessary to ensure good partnership and communication between sites.
  • Responsible for excellent communication between employee, manager and North Mankato HR representative on workers compensation, FMLA, ADA, and other personal situations that need hands on management and oversight.
  • Communicate changes in policy, procedures, and resources to Kentucky staff as needed, managing through any changes or updates that occur, getting buy-in.
  • Supports Safety program in Kentucky location and communicates across locations to ensure consistency
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors in business management, Human Resources, Psychology, Sociology, or similar fields and/or equivalent experience in management/Human Resources positions.
  • At least 3 years of professional HR department experience, crossing all functional areas.
  • At least 2 years of progressive leadership experience.

Preferred qualifications: (if any) 

  • Experience recruiting and hiring at scale.
  • Experience working with employee engagement, culture, diversity, and inclusivity efforts.
  • Ability to lead and execute projects and initiatives.
  • PHR or SPHR certified.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Creating and implementing development programs.
  • Broad knowledge of Human Resources and management best practices.
  • Experience with employment law, compensation, recruiting, employee relations, safety, and training.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with employees, customers, and vendors
