The Lead MRI Technologist will set the standard regarding providing exceptional MRI images for TOAs patients, works diligently to establish a collaborative work environment, and provides valuable support for the Director of MRI. The Lead MRI Technologist will focus their efforts on a number of areas, including:

Imaging:

  • Provides excellent patient care and customer service. Beginning before the image takes place, the Lead MRI Technologist will effectively interview patients to explain MRI procedures and to obtain a detailed history of the patient’s pertinent medical information, and works to put the patient at ease
  • Using all of the necessary information, conducts the MRI examination ensuring all safety and medical efficacy standards are met, including strictest confidentiality following HIPAA guidelines
  • Monitors the patient throughout the course of the MRI to ensure the optimal patient care and imaging quality is maintained
  • Enters all required information in TOAs EHR and PACS systems to ensure proper workflow and radiologic interpretation. Will also notify physicians and other clinicians of critical findings in a timely basis

Collaborative work environment:

  • Provides leadership in the daily work environment, ensuring a culture of cooperation, effective communication, and teamwork
  • Works exceptionally well with fellow technologists for efficiency and to insure proper patient flow
  • Assists the front desk answering phones and scheduling as needed
  • Assists with ACR accreditations and the maintenance of QA records

Assists the MRI Leadership

  • Will work closely with the Director to ensure adequate staffing and scheduling, adherence to the TOA workplace policies, and to provide guidance and insights on best practices
  • Assists in training new personnel
  • Adjusts staffing to cover for vacations, illness etc. for all sites, and will work
  • Fills in at other MRI facilities and various shifts as needed
  • Assists with implementation of new policies and procedures
  • Runs missing ticket reports, directs the correction of missing tickets and reconciles with coders
Requirements

The successful candidate for our Lead MRI Technologist will have these experiences and qualifications:

  • Completion of A.S., B.S. or certificate in Radiologic technology
  • Registered in MRI
  • Excellent patient services skills including working with claustrophobic patients
  • Exceptional communication skills, being able to effectively communicate with patients, but also importantly, being able to communicate with multiple employee levels within TOA
  • Dependable and capable of adjusting schedules to meet workload demands and staffing demands
  • Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and Medical terminology, MRI safety practices, quality control and quality assurance
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the knowledge of MRI principles and pulse sequences
  • Consistent success in properly positioning patients and program imaging to ensure high quality and accurate MRI examinations
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize pathology and adjust scanning parameters
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EHR and PACs knowledge, with NextGen experience preferred
  • This position will require sitting for long periods of time, and also stooping, bending and stretching for equipment and lifting said equipment from shelf to table and back.
  • Employee should be able to assist patients to and from table including assisting them up from a lying position.
