Position Summary
The Welding Supervisor is responsible for executing daily production plans by providing clear direction, ensuring accountability, and leading the welding team to deliver safe, high-quality, and on-time results. This role drives workflow efficiency, enforces welding standards, and develops team members while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Translate daily production plans into clear direction for team leads and welders
- Set shift priorities, targets, and performance expectations
- Align manpower, materials, and equipment to meet production goals
- Provide material lists and assist with project cost estimates as needed
2. Performance & Execution Accountability
- Monitor production progress and track performance against plan
- Identify bottlenecks and adjust resources to maintain workflow
- Address performance gaps immediately to keep operations on track
- Ensure deadlines and schedules are achieved consistently
3. Welding Quality, Process & Equipment Oversight
- Ensure compliance with welding procedures, quality standards, and specifications
- Verify weld identification, traceability, and documentation requirements
- Drive continuous improvement in weld quality and reduction of rework
- Oversee proper use and care of welding equipment and tools
- Maintain efficient workflow between teams to avoid production delays
- Enforce housekeeping and organized work areas
4. Safety Leadership
- Promote and enforce a safety-first culture at all times
- Ensure compliance with PPE requirements and welding safety standards
- Address unsafe behaviors and conditions immediately
- Reinforce safe work practices during team meetings and daily huddles
5. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Team Leads and welding personnel
- Provide ongoing performance feedback and conduct performance evaluations
- Support employee growth through training and skill development
- Partner with HR on attendance, discipline, and employee relations
- Approve employee leave requests and manage workforce scheduling
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and respect
6. Communication & Coordination
- Provide regular updates on production status, risks, and constraints
- Communicate manpower, material, and operational challenges
- Maintain detailed job documentation and reporting
- Ensure effective shift-to-shift handoff and communication
- Escalate safety, quality, or equipment issues promptly
- Collaborate with Plant Supervisor and cross-functional

Qualifications & Experience
- Previous supervisory experience in welding or manufacturing fabrication
- Experience with tank fabrication, structural welding, or heavy manufacturing preferred
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and welding processes
- Strong knowledge of production workflows and equipment use
- Demonstrated leadership and team development experience
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Technical training or welding certifications preferred
