General Accountability:
The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day performance of the assigned unit to ensure that productivity and quality standards are achieved in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Organization Structure:
This position reports to the Unit Manager and has direct line supervision over the hourly operators in the assigned segment of the manufacturing process.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensures that area housekeeping is properly maintained and that all company and contract personnel working within the area perform work safely in accordance with Atalco policies and in compliance with environmental permits.
· Ensures that area team members are prepared to work safely, that they have the appropriate tools and equipment, that all positions are adequately covered, and that assigned duties are performed in a professional and timely manner.
- Communicates plant goals and objectives effectively to team members.
- Updates area visual information boards and prepares and distributes reports on time with current, accurate process conditions and equipment status.
- Maintains detailed, current knowledge of process parameters and equipment conditions, and ensures that routine and other assigned operator duties are properly performed.
- Coordinates appropriate preparation, turnaround, maintenance, and return to service of area equipment.
- Collaborates with maintenance personnel to ensure safe work permits and equipment lock outs are issued in a timely manner.
- Accurately completes all SAP transactions related to work requests and material reservations.
- Assists Area Trainer with new operator training. Reviews trainees’ progress and provides feedback to Training Department and area management.
- Seeks to develop themselves and others. Evaluates performance of team members and provides feedback through periodic and annual evaluations identifying strengths and weaknesses in performance. Actively and effectively communicates and coaches team members to promote excellence in the workplace.
- Investigates incidents, identifies unsafe aspects, participates in development of corrective actions, and enforces company policies and procedures.
- Verifies that hourly time records reflect the work performed.
High school diploma/GED, plus work experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Three to five years manufacturing supervisor experience preferred.
College and/or trade school preferred.
TWIC
Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
