GEO Prep Mid-City is a part of a network of high-quality public charter schools that deliver the innovative GEO Academies model developed by the GEO Foundation. GEO Prep Mid-City is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-8. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary school to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through our partnership with local colleges and universities, our students will be able to take dual credit courses on the college campus to earn college and career credits at no cost to the student. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
An Interventionist is required to perform the following duties:
- Work with individual scholars and small groups, both within and outside of the classroom, to support grade-level performance and mastery of state standards as measured by LEAP and NWEA assessments.
- Assess scholars using Running Records, Concepts of Print, Phonemic Awareness, KITE Testing, and other assessment tools, including SRI, SIPPS, DRA, BRI, MARS Tasks, and Math Benchmarks.
- Communicate regularly with parents and teachers regarding the progress of targeted scholars.
- Model instructional best practices in classrooms.
- Submit lesson plans on a weekly basis.
- Track standards-based assessment data weekly.
- Establish specific, data-driven intervention goals for each intervention group.
- Meet weekly with the Principal and Master Teacher to analyze student data, assessment results, and exit tickets.
- Attend weekly TAP professional development sessions, as required.
- Support the implementation of school-wide incentive programs.
- Assist with planning and facilitating at least one annual Title I Literacy Night.
- Schedule and participate in parent meetings during quarterly parent-teacher conferences, as needed.
- Administer KITE Testing and assist with NWEA testing as needed.
- Conduct progress monitoring and letter-sound assessments to track scholar growth and intervention effectiveness.
- Exhibit professional behavior and maintain a positive, professional standard in the workplace.
- Attend all required staff meetings and designated school functions outside of regular school hours.
- Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Uphold all GEO Academies policies and procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher and at least 24 credit hours in content area required
- Louisiana Teacher Certification preferred
- Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement
- Experience working in an urban school setting
