About the job.


We’re looking for an HR Generalist to join our team on a full-time basis at our Carol Stream production facility. In this role you will be the face of the people team for our production staff and manage their day-to-day HR needs. This person will be super organized and comfortable to help with any and all people needs - from conducting phone screens to having the sometimes needed difficult coaching conversations. This role is perfect for you if you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are interested in helping build out HR structure for a growing tech company. 


Note: This position will be on-site at our Carol Stream production facility 5 days a week. 


How you'll spend your time at Tovala:  

  • Serve as first point of contact for production employee relations issues 
  • Provide coaching to managers on how to deliver corrective actions, resolve conflict and communicate effectively with their teams
  • Partner with our HR Administrator to ensure that policies are adhered to consistently and fairly
  • Source applications and conduct initial phone screen with candidates
  • Oversee all aspects of onboarding & offboarding ensuring a positive employee experience
  • Assist with auditing employee timesheets and making updates in our HRIS system
  • Help build and implement HR policies, procedures and programs to support our company growth
  • Assist with larger strategic HR projects like driving employee engagement and designing production training programs
Requirements

About you.

  • Bachelors required, preferably in HR, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of HR experience, preferably with an hourly population
  • Knowledge of basic city, state & federal labor and employment laws
  • You are a very organized person who pays attention to details
  • You feel comfortable having corrective action conversations on your own, but know when to ask for support
  • You can adapt to change quickly and when faced with multiple priorities, you remain cool as a cucumber 
  • You communicate well, both verbally and in writing, and understand the importance of confidentiality
  • You're interested in startups and excited to work in a fast-paced environment
