Assistant General Manager

RTR Pilates  |  Reports to General Manager

The Assistant General Manager supports the day-to-day operations of their studio and is a driving force behind studio growth, an exceptional client experience, and community connection. The AGM owns grassroots marketing and community outreach for their studio, leads membership relations through the RTR Hospitality Way, and upholds the RTR brand standard. The AGM also teaches  8-12 in-person Pilates classes per week (additional classes may be required based on the needs of the schedule).

Major Roles

1. In-Studio Presence & Daily Coverage

  • Four days per week in-studio, cycling with the General Manager's schedule to guarantee that a manager is present and working the studio every day.
  • Weekly schedule includes a mix of coverage: one early morning, one mid-day, one evening, and one weekend shift.
  • Daily coverage of Axle (CRM) and the studio info box — all Axle messages, texts, and calls are answered daily; every lead and member inquiry receives a timely, professional, solution-oriented response.
  • Works AGM-owned Axle buckets each day.

2. Grassroots Marketing & Community Outreach

  • Present at all grassroots events for their studio; the General Manager covers any event that falls on the AGM's day off.
  • Executes a minimum of two lead generating (external) events per quarter and one in-studio member event per quarter.
  • Four partnership touchpoint outreaches per week — a scorecard metric reviewed weekly with the General Manager.
  • Inputs every partnership contact into the pod partnership spreadsheet and keeps the grassroots marketing spreadsheet up to date.
  • Captures and sources dynamic content during studio events, supplying the social media team with high-engagement assets that drive leads and enhance local brand awareness.

3. Operational Support & GM Partnership

  • Assists the General Manager with the sales funnel (Leads ? Intros ? Memberships), identifying conversion gaps and executing localized initiatives to exceed monthly revenue and budget targets.
  • Oversees studio readiness — managing retail and supply inventory and ensuring all reformer equipment is maintained to the highest safety and aesthetic standards.

4. Instruction & Quality Control

  • Leads by example, teaching classes as needed. Classes require high-energy, brand-consistent in-studio reformer classes, open houses or workshops per week.
  • Partners with the GM on regular instructor evaluations and actionable feedback, ensuring the RTR Instruction Standard is delivered consistently.

5. Client Relations & Retention — The RTR Hospitality Way

  • Serves as the primary lead for the studio's communication hubs (email and CRM), delivering the RTR Hospitality Way in every interaction.
  • Supports the GM in monitoring churn data and executes member-save strategies to re-engage at-risk clients and build long-term loyalty.

6. Culture Ambassador

  • Champions RTR's mission and core values, fostering an inclusive, high-energy environment for staff and clients while ensuring strict adherence to brand standards and studio culture.

7. Presale & New Location Support

  • Supports presales for new locations opening within their pod — executing grassroots marketing blitzes, community partnerships, and local events in the new market.
  • Works presale leads in Axle - assists to staff pop-ups, and launch events as scheduled.
  • Helps establish the RTR Hospitality Way and brand standard from a new studio's first day.

Accountability

  • Reports to the General Manager, who holds the AGM accountable to weekly scorecard metrics — including partnership touchpoints, event execution, and spreadsheet upkeep.
Requirements

 

Requirements

  • Fitness teaching experience preferred; client relations experience a plus.
  • Genuine passion for fitness and a solid understanding of industry trends.
  • Desire to learn fitness software, analytics, and financial acumen in preparation for a GM role.
  • Ability to work on-site at managed locations within the DMV (District, Maryland, Virginia) area.
  • Schedule flexibility t o meet the needs of the community, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends for class instruction, events, and studio coverage.
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a background check.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $48,000-$52,000, plus compensation for teaching 8-12 classes weekly and an estimated monthly revenue share bonus.
