Oxley Enterprises, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Controller to provide direct support to the Senior Vice President of Finance, Human Resources, and Administration. This position will perform the financial accounting for a growing government contractor by performing all day-to-day, monthly and year-end activities. This position will also support other aspects of the company.
Accounting
- Perform daily accounting functions using both cost accounting and government cost accounting principles, including, but not limited to (accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, taxes)
- Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities including journal entry posting, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate expense allocation
- Perform payroll activities (e.g., timesheets, payroll, payroll taxes)
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Prepare internal financial management reports
- Support budget and cash flow activities
- Support tax activities
- Support contract financial performance activities and analysis
- Support contract pricing activities
- Assist Sr VP of Finance, HR, and Admin with interim and year-end internal financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit, as well as the external audit closing and reporting at year-end
- Support other financial activities
Corporate Infrastructure/Human Resources Administration/Business Development Marketing
- Support insurance policy tasks
- Support technology functions
- Support corporate certifications, maintenance, and audits (e.g., ISO 9000, CMMI)
- Support and/or oversee the Intern Program
- Support and/or coordinate human resources lifecycle activities (e.g., recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance, compensation, benefits, training, exit)
- Support the recruiting process (e.g., job descriptions, screenings, references, tracking)
- Support activities in administration of human resources systems (e.g., employee databases, performance management systems)
- Support employment law activities, compliance, and required filings
- Support all phases of the business development lifecycle
- Conduct research (e.g., market, competitive, forecast)
- Support marketing activities
Minimum/General Experience: 5+ years of experience in Accounting
Minimum Education: Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent years of experience
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Must have experience supporting a Federal Contractor
- Experience with Financial Systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Deltek, Unanet highly preferred)
- Experience with Payroll Systems (e.g., Paylocity)
- Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Above average proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word
- Above average attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic small business environment
- Ability to follow established processes and procedures
- Ability to conduct research, including internet research
- Ability to collaborate and work in a cohesive team to achieve company goals
- Effective in interpersonal relationship building and collaboration
- Ability to organize own work, coordinate projects, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction
- Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines
