Position Summary
The Business Operations Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, and financial success of Level Countertops, Cabinets & Flooring.
This individual owns the day-to-day business—including financial performance, operations, customer satisfaction, vendor relationships, and team leadership—while partnering with the Owner on long-term strategy and growth initiatives.
The Business Operations Manager serves as the single point of accountability for the business, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, customers receive exceptional service, and financial goals are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
• Lead the day-to-day operations of Level Countertops, Cabinets & Flooring.
• Provide direct leadership to project managers, sales coordination, office staff, and shop operations.
• Establish accountability, clear expectations, and consistent communication across the organization.
• Create systems that improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase profitability.
• Drive continuous improvement throughout all aspects of the business.
Financial Performance
Own the financial performance of the business by managing:
• Revenue
• Gross profit
• Material costs
• Labor costs
• Subcontractor costs
• Weekly payroll
• Job profitability
• Cash flow
• Accounts receivable
Review financial performance weekly and proactively identify opportunities for improvement. Escalate strategic decisions to ownership while independently managing day-to-day business operations.
Customer Experience
• Serve as the highest level of customer support for escalated issues.
• Ensure projects are completed on schedule and meet Level's quality standards.
• Build long-term customer relationships.
• Maintain a strong reputation within the marketplace.
Team Leadership
• Lead, coach, and develop employees.
• Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with key team members.
• Assist with recruiting and hiring as the business grows.
• Create an environment where employees enjoy coming to work.
Vendor & Supply Chain Management
• Build and maintain strong relationships with cabinet, flooring, countertop, and material suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing where appropriate.
• Ensure quality, availability, and timely delivery of materials.
• Evaluate vendor performance and identify new opportunities.
Business Performance
Monitor key performance indicators including:
• Revenue
• Gross Profit %
• Material %
• Labor %
• Payroll %
• AR Aging
• Cash Flow
• Backlog
• Production Capacity
• Customer Satisfaction
• Warranty Issues
• Project Cycle Time
Present weekly business scorecards to ownership.
Qualifications
• 7+ years of leadership experience within construction, building materials, millwork, cabinetry, flooring, countertops, manufacturing, or a related industry.
• Strong financial and business acumen with experience managing budgets and P&Ls.
• Experience leading multiple departments and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to build systems, improve operations, and drive profitability.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong organizational and decision-making abilities.
• Experience managing vendors, subcontractors, and customer relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
• General management or operations leadership experience.
• Experience overseeing multiple product lines or divisions.
• Background in residential or commercial construction.
• Lean, EOS, or continuous improvement experience.
• Experience managing teams through periods of growth and change.
