Job Summary:


The CNA Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hospice home health aide staff. This position will be responsible for hiring, training, retention, discipline, and scheduling of the home health aides in conjunction with the demands of the hospice program. The CNA Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the annual supervisory requirements for the home health aides have been met and competencies are completed and accurate.

Requirements

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Assists with hiring, training, and retention of CNA staff to meet the demands of the hospice agency
  2. Ensures that new CNAs have and maintain proper credentials per state, federal and CHAP requirements
  3. Meets all competency requirements as required by state, federal and CHAP guidelines
  4. Schedules CNAs according to the individualized Plan of Care established by the RN Case Manager for each patient
  5. This position may also manage the supply inventory with oversight from the RN Clinical Coordinator(s); ordering & maintaining records of supply needs
  6. Serves as the point of contact for patients and/or caregivers for CNA scheduling needs, concerns, and grievances
  7. Arranges for precepting of new CNAs
  8. Immediately reports any changes of staff to the RN Case Manager and RN Clinical Coordinator(s) or designee
  9. Coordinates delivery of materials or supplies with patient supply companies to a schedule within business hours that is not disruptive to IDT meetings or other training
  10. Educates CNA staff on the use and potential hazards of patient care supplies, when necessary
  11. Generates miscellaneous patient reports when needed
  12. Participates in Performance Improvement Activities as requested
  13. Participates in QAPI Compliance goals for CNA documentation
  14. Completes appropriate documentation in a legible and timely manner
  15. Ensures CNA compliance with attending staff meetings and in-service training
  16. Generates and delivers disciplinary write-ups to CNAs under the supervision of the Human Resources team
  17. Stays current with all mandatory agency and regulatory requirements
  18. Reviews timekeeping performed by CNAs, verifying it is done according to the timekeeping policies and procedures, and approves timecards for payroll processing 
  19. Approves CNA mileage and timecards for payroll processing
  20. Assures all CNA visits are closed in a timely manner
  21. Responsible for completing CNA performance evaluations (90 day & annual) with assistance from the RN Clinical Coordinator(s)
  22. Other duties as assigned

  8. Pursues professional networking opportunities to stay current in the fields of social work and hospice
  9. Completes assigned projects within specified time frames
  10. Maintains attendance in accordance with company standards
  11. May make patient visits on special occasions or as deemed necessary to provide uninterrupted patient care
  12. Assists with supervision and guidance of student interns as directed

Physical/Safety Requirements:

  1. Must be able to lift 10-40 lbs. on a regular basis
  2. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
  3. Must have the strength and endurance required for sitting for lengthy periods of time
  4. Must possess sight/hearing and speech senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position are fully met
  5. Category 2 for potential exposure to blood/body fluids. (Does not usually require the performance of procedures or other tasks in the work routine that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but Category 2 tasks may require the unexpected performance of these procedures.)
  6. Must be able to handle frequent interruptions and idiosyncrasies of people
  7. Must be able to comprehend English and follow oral and written instructions
  8. Must utilize appropriate PPE as needed
  9. Must be able to follow the designated plan of action in the event of a fire or other emergency
  10. Must use appropriate body mechanics as needed 
  11. While performing the duties of this job, the employee needs to be able to handle work-related stresses
  12. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Licensed as a Certified Nurse Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing in the State of Nevada (preferred)
  2. Prefer 1 year experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in hospice, home health, or geriatric care
  3. Successful completion of a background check pursuant to NRS 449.188 and NRS 179A.100 along with a pre-employment drug screen and physical, TB testing, previous employment and reference checking, and an MVR (may include verification of education) 
  4. Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
  5. Must be able to cope with emotionally charged situations encompassing patients, families, and other caregivers
  6. Must be available for pre-scheduled, on-call hours, weekends, and holiday as needed
  7. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and maintain current auto insurance 
  8. Must have CPR/BLS Certification
