ExcelHealth Group is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Benefits Verification Specialist to join our team in an in-person capacity. This role is well suited for a healthcare administrative professional who understands the importance of accuracy, timely communication, and proactive follow-through in supporting a seamless patient experience.
What You’ll Do
• Verify patient eligibility, insurance benefits, plan details, and coverage requirements with accuracy and timeliness.
• Determine prior authorization, referral, and documentation requirements before services are scheduled or delivered.
• Communicate professionally with payers, patients, providers, and internal teams to clarify coverage, resolve questions, and prevent avoidable delays.
• Maintain thorough documentation of verification outcomes, authorization numbers, payer communications, and patient responsibility information within designated systems.
• Partner with billing, scheduling, and operations teams to support clean handoffs, reduce denials, and improve the overall patient access process.
• Monitor outstanding items, follow up consistently, and escalate complex issues as appropriate.
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience in insurance verification, eligibility review, prior authorization, patient access, medical billing, credentialing, or healthcare administration is preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with payer portals, electronic health records, practice management systems, spreadsheets, and related digital tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally by phone, email, and in person.
• A proactive, solution-oriented approach with strong follow-through and sound judgment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or experience in healthcare administration is a plus.
