Position Overview

The Loss Prevention Associate plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, secure, and compliant workplace. This position is responsible for monitoring facility access, conducting patrols, overseeing security systems, and responding to safety or security incidents. The associate also serves as a primary responder during warehouse emergencies, providing immediate assistance in cases of equipment failure or workplace injury until specialized medical or maintenance personnel arrive.


Key Responsibilities


Security & Access Control

Monitor and control entry and exit points for employees, visitors, and vendors in accordance with company FTZ procedures.

• Verify credentials, enforce visitor management protocols, and maintain accurate access records.

• Ensure all visitors are properly authorized, registered, and supervised in compliance with FTZ federal security regulations.

• Issue and manage access cards and ensure visitors wear required safety vests.


Monitoring & Patrol

Maintain vigilance over assigned posts, alarm systems, fire panels, and access control platforms. 

• Conduct regular facility patrols and maintain strong familiarity with building and campus layout.

• Utilize security technologies including alarm monitoring and access control systems.


Incident Response & Reporting

Identify, report, and assist in mitigating safety hazards or security concerns.

• Take immediate and appropriate action during unsafe or high-risk situations.

• De-escalate disputes or disruptive behavior in a calm and professional manner.

• Prepare clear, accurate, and objective incident reports.

• Communicate effectively via radio using established protocols.


Safety & Compliance

Monitor fire alarm systems and respond according to emergency procedures.

• Serve as a first responder during emergencies, providing assistance until additional support arrives.

• Ensure weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections of safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, sprinklers, AEDs, eyewash stations, and spill kits.

• Ensure first aid kits are available and fully stocked.

• Manage Gate Security Protocols and Procedures.

• Manage emergency escalation process in accordance with company procedures. Ensure all employees are accounted for during emergency evacuation or shelter situations. Manage communication tree.


Training & Administrative Support

Participate in required safety, compliance, and skills-based training, including SLED Basics and Fire Extinguisher Training.

• Provide safety training as assigned per the Safety Training Schedule (TBD) and maintain attendance records.

• Assist Human Resources with new employee onboarding preparation, including badges, company property forms, and locker policy acknowledgments.

• Maintain the master locker list, conduct monthly locker inspections, and ensure only company-issued locks are used.

• Maintain the PIT Certificate Board.

• Ensure office supplies and security vests are available and fully stocked.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.

• Completion of SLED Basics Training and Fire Extinguisher Training.

• Prior security or law enforcement experience preferred.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Basic computer proficiency and ability to use security-related software systems.


Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Ability to remain alert, composed, and responsive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while remaining alert.

• Ability to walk for an extended period as well as bend and stoop.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

• Performing team lifts for loads or patients over 50 pounds in accordance with safe lifting practices.

• Kneel and remain on the ground for extended periods. 

• Perform effective chest compressions (2 inches deep at 100–120/min). 

• Maintain physical endurance for multiple cycles (often 2–5+ minutes). 

• Use both arms and upper body strength repeatedly. 

• Lift and position equipment or victims if needed.

• See, hear, and communicate clearly during an emergency.
