Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

1. Start and maintain peripheral IV lines, and able to access implanted chest ports for infusion therapy, administer injectable medication.
2. Ensure the consent is signed and patient understands risks and benefits of the transfusion.
3. Maintain a current, accurate infusion and transfusion log, and patient tickler files, as appropriate.
4. Ensure appropriate handling and accurate documentation of all medications ordered by the provider.
5. Chart the assessments and interventions in patient’s record.
6. Maintain and record drug counts at beginning and end of day on a daily basis.
7. Responsible for handling emergency adverse reactions during infusions.
8. Must multi-task, monitor patient condition, notify appropriate personnel of any changes, and provide services requiring substantial, specialized nursing skill.
9. Maintain proper clinical and billing records in compliance with the Practice protocols.
10. Adhere to prescribing guidelines, office protocols.
11. Continually update training and self-studies regarding administration of medication, patient assessment and counseling points specific to each medication.

Qualifications and Skills:

2. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Medical Practice Software, Windows, and Microsoft Office.
3. 1-2 years’ experience required.
4. IV insertion a plus.
5. Basic Life support (BLS).
6. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR).
7. Must have excellent written and verbal customer service skills in order to interact with the patient, physician, pharmacist and other partners.

Required Education and Experience

NYS RN license required; experience with IV infusion administration preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
