Founded in 2007, Initiate Government Solutions (IGS) a Woman Owned Small Business, specializes in healthcare information solutions with emphasis on technology spectrum. IGS partners with government and commercial clients to tackle the most challenging healthcare information technology issues including large scale implementations, business informatics, analytics, and electronic health record support.
IGS is currently recruiting for a Clinical Informaticist III to support our work with the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
Assignment of Work and Travel:
This is a remote access assignment. Candidate will work remotely daily and will remotely access HHS systems and therein use approved HHS provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested.
Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):
- Leads data collection activities for specified clinical environment
- Oversees design, implementation, and maintenance of clinical applications
- Support interoperability efforts (quality assurance) with clinical data
- Coordinate activities with system, unit, integration and acceptance testing
- Provide expertise to help engineers understand source systems and translate clinical requirements into specifications that assure that applications provide timely, accurate and actionable information to clinical end-users
- Analysis of functional requirements collection and modification, and gap analysis of functional interfaces
- Assesses current processes and tools and collects provider feedback; identifies points of integration and weakness; makes recommendations for improvement, where applicable
- Collaborates with all stakeholders in the areas of planning, development, preparation and implementation of clinical information systems
- Coordinates and manages vendor resources in the implementation of new software, and/or application upgrades and enhancements
- Facilitates improvements, enhancements, updates and modifications to applications
- Responsible for executing project tasks including development of project work plans, resource plans, schedules, costs, administrative reports, and acceptance criteria
- Plans the development and execution of educator/trainer courses of core system/application functionality; provides facilitation and coordination of training plans
- Mentor team members and provide training
- 10 years of experience with BS degree in healthcare, science, computer engineering, or related scientific, technical, or clinical discipline
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a high level of attention to detail
- Prioritize and execute multiple tasks that adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Self-starter who is comfortable working both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team
- Knowledge of and experience with clinical quality measures
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain an HHS Public Trust
Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:
- Current HHS Public Trust
- Clinical background preferred (Nursing, allied health, medical technology, etc.)
- Prior, successful experience working in a remote environment
- Previous, experience supporting NIH institutes, specifically NCI
- Experience working on federal government contracts, preferably centered around cancer research, health informatics, cancer biology or clinical trials
