Description

Works closely with the Director of Strategic Engagement to manage the Texas A&M Advocacy Network including the planning and execution of several legislative events.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists Director of Strategic Engagement with legislative and advocacy efforts for The Association.

  • Schedules and attends meetings with the Texas A&M Government Relations staff, state/federal legislative offices, and other key stakeholders.
  • Assists with maintenance of advocacy database.
  • Drafts correspondence with elected officials.
  • Assists in event planning (Orange & Maroon Legislative Day, Aggies on the Hill, and other events throughout Texas).
  • Assists with updating and maintaining advocacy website and social media accounts.
  • Assists with preparation of advocacy newsletters.


Participates and provides input on various Association-wide activities which may include:

  • Actively contributing to efforts to achieve donor growth goal.
  • Providing on-site event support for Board and Leadership Council Meetings.
  • Participation on internal event and task committees.
  • Participation in Association events including, but not limited to, All-Aggie Grad Party, Ring Delivery, Reunions, Distinguished Alumni Gala and Game Day events, as needed.
  • Represents The Association as needed at events.


Acts as an ambassador for The Association by meeting Team Expectations; supporting The Association’s fundraising, branding, and communications efforts; and fostering relationships with former students, current students, parents, faculty, staff and friends of Texas A&M. Occasional other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Required: Current student at Texas A&M University pursing a bachelor’s or master’s degree.

Preferred: Current student at Texas A&M University pursuing degree in political science, communications, or related field. Previous PPIP or ANRP internship or equivalent combination of training and experience.


SKILLS

Required: Extensive working knowledge of standard office equipment and software, including Microsoft Office. Effective oral and written communication skills, including public speaking.

Preferred: Working knowledge of social media platforms and Google Workspace.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Required: Ability to operate a keyboard and a valid driver’s license.


OTHER

Required: Ability to travel periodically. Personable and customer service attitude. Ability to professionally interact with a diverse, bi-partisan population and maintain attention to detail.
