Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum documents and interprets the history of country music—a musical genre and culture central to the identity of the city, the state, and the nation. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum proudly combines subject expertise, ambitious research, and preservation of an unparalleled collection with expressions of creativity in music, art, and history. The museum collects artifacts that illustrate the evolving history and traditions of country music and provides diverse learning opportunities through educational programs, publications, and exhibitions. The core exhibit follows the story of country music from its folk beginnings through its evolution as a commercial art form. Rotating exhibits examine a broad range of topics, from country classics to contemporary and emerging artists in American Currents. The museum owns Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop opened in 1879, and it operates Historic RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and many others recorded.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. The Maintenance Technician is a vital part of the maintenance team at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The Maintenance Technician supports a safe, user-friendly, and accessible working environment for staff and visitors during all hours of operation and all events (CMF and third party). The Maintenance Technician provides ongoing maintenance and improvements to the building, equipment, and other assets, and provides maintenance at all of the company’s locations including Warehouse and Studio B. A sense of urgency and professional communication are essential behaviors for this position.
• Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
• Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
• Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
• Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
• Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
• Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
• Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
• Light HVAC, electrical and plumbing maintenance including detecting and diagnosing problems
• Light carpentry; sheetrock work and painting
• Repairing electrical or mechanical equipment
• Repairing walls, floors and stairs and keeping building in good working order
• Perform daily duties as assigned by supervisor
• Provide excellent customer service to internal departments, supported by the facilities department
• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
• Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to take control of a situation and resolve issues without direct supervision, as appropriate.
• Must work well with others
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Related experience preferred.
• On-the-job training offered.
• 3-5 years’ experience in light maintenance duties including electrical, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry
• Computer experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as work order systems, spreadsheets and databases
• Prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, mostly evenings, weekends and some holidays.
