The Career Readiness Specialist (CRS) provides career services and employment opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing clients throughout the US depeding on VR contracts; including Minnesota, West Virginia, Washington, and California. This position supports the development, administration, and delivery of high-quality employment-related services to empower and guide clients to find and secure gainful employment. The Career Readiness Specialist ensures program participants are engaged and supported in career exploration and provide information regarding job search preparation, including resumes, job application forms, interviewing skills, soft skills, financial literacy, and more. The Career Readiness Specialist collaborates with members of the CSD Works team to ensure proper, efficient, and effective career resource programs that aim to connect motivated businesses to an untapped nationwide talent pool of deaf, deaf-blind, and hard of hearing individuals by setting clients up for success. The Career Readiness Specialist is naturally a mentor, adept in helping people enhance their strengths and improve their job skills.
- Conducts intake screening of new clients; performs assessments and administers ongoing skill tests to best determine services and resources needed for success
- Develops personalized written plans outlining clients’ employment goals; delegates services needed to reach goals based on gathered intake and assessment information
- Develops and modifies training curriculum to fit clients’ individual needs in relation to employment goals
- Provides mentoring, career coaching, placement, or other services that address the clients’ readiness to work in American Sign Language (ASL) via online videoconferencing and in-person which may include transportation services, as appropriate
- Provides resume development/review, interview practice, identifying suitable job leads that match clients’ skills and career interests, and post-employment support as needed
- Presents clients with clear and accurate information regarding how increased employment earnings may affect their Social Security and other benefits
- Executes job training based on client needs in one-on-one or group settings
- Assists clients to set goals and overcome employment barriers
- Evaluate, and documents all client activities in the case file management system in a timely manner including promptly submitting weekly and monthly reports
- Collaborates with the Works team, provides webinars, presentations, and other activities for organizations and corporations related to Deaf awareness and including deaf and hard of hearing people in the workplace

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Proven experience in organizing and designing multiple training events
- Knowledge of instructional design theory and learning principles
- Proven ability to master the full training cycle
- Skill in traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques
- Skill in talent management and succession planning
- Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, Applicant Tracking systems (ATS), Salesforce software, and Microsoft Access, Dynamics, and Excel
- Ability to adapt to clients of diverse communication needs as well as backgrounds with a strengths-based perspective
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training, Human Resources or related field from an accredited college or university; or equivalent professional experience
- Two years of professional experience providing career counseling/coaching services, including resume development, interview preparation, networking/job search strategies, and job placement services
- Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language
- Two years of professional experience in instructional design theory and learning principles (PREFERRED)
- All offers of employment for the Career Readiness Specialist at CSD Works are contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check and drug screen
- Valid Drivers’ License with a clean driving record required: Will be driving throughout various regions
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
This position is moderately self-directed and requires understanding and compliance with company policies, procedures, and values. The position works in a virtual office environment utilizing a computer and standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required interact collaboratively with the team and stakeholders, and communicate via phone, videophone, or text messaging. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The position may require travel up to 40%.
