This role is responsible for coaching parents to parenting capability and to enhance family engagement and involvement. Incumbent will role model and provide parenting skills to increase parents ability to increase positive experiences for parents and their children, teach one on one parent education, educate child developmental stages, provide parents constructive and structured guidance on their interaction with their children. This role plays a key part in ensuring children and families have access to relevant services by providing support, service navigation, and facilitating planned events, outings or groups.

- Provide support and intervention with individual children and youth; Observe parent’s daily living and parenting skills; redirect and/or teach skills where needed.
- Facilitate activities and groups for children of all ages, working with colleagues and volunteers to carry out activities within the building as well as field trips into the community.
- Promote parent and family engagement through the utilization of creative outreach and relationship building techniques
- Coaches and supports families with a strengths-based approach
- Strong ability to build positive rapport with both parents and children
- Develop and/or assist in the child programming and parent-child interaction groups.
- Actively participate in the development of special events and celebrations with/for families.
- Provides team approach model case management services including goal setting, networking, and use of community resources, advocacy, referral, and support.
- Develop mutual trust and cooperation with families to strengthen child and parenting development.
- Educates and coaches parents on safety and risk awareness, increasing natural supports and improving parenting skills.
- Identify specialized needs for parents and connect them with appropriate resources and supportive services within the community.
- Provide parents with information on development of limit setting, behavior management, household management and communication and relationship enhancement when needed
- Transport families for community outings.
- Provide trauma-informed, strengths-based coaching to promote developmentally appropriate, positive parent-child interactions and enhance parent-child bonding.
- Maintain compliance with state standards.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate records, documenting interactions with every child in all residential programs at least weekly.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures.
- Participate in marketing efforts of program.
- Transport clients in company vehicles, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned to meet the organization's goals.
- Associates in Human Services or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- CPR and First Aid Certifications
Knowledge and Experience:
- Strong customer service skills with ability to communicate in a professional manner with a wide range of people. Unequivocal commitment to pluralism.
- Thorough knowledge of child development and the impact of trauma on children and families.
- Ability to offer guidance, direction, and feedback to staff in a supervisory role.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion when handling potentially confidential or sensitive matters.
- Strong time management skills; ability to take initiative to solve problems and work with minimum supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- 1-3 years of general office experience, including reception and telephone duties.
- 1-3 years of experience with general office equipment (copiers, printers)
- Accurate, organized, and detail-oriented, with ability to work under pressure and shift priorities in response to changing needs.
- Ability to keep accurate records and files
- Must comply with organization's policy of automobile insurance: must have a valid driver’s license and personal automobile insurance coverage.
- Flexibility to change work hours as needed.
Physical/Mental Essential Requirements:
- Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, moderate lifting and carrying (up to thirty (30) pounds).
- Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Ability to sit at a computer work station for extended periods of time.
- Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to focus on detail and accuracy of work product.
- Work is performed primarily in a non-smoking office environment, though travel may expose employee to inclement weather conditions.
- Occasional high stress may be experienced in dealing with clients, staff and volunteers.
