HIRING RANGE:
$22.47-$24.75 for 1:1 training
$33-$37.13 for 2:1 training
POSITION SUMMARY:
Personal Trainers have the responsibility of developing and implementing individualized workout regimens and conducting fitness assessments for members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Trains participants in a way that is both demonstrative and professional.
- Watches and corrects participants when training in an unsafe manner.
- Promotes wellness and other YMCA programming.
- Communicates a thorough knowledge of exercise science is required, including functional anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition and injury prevention.
- Conducts fitness evaluations for new clients including goal setting assessments, orientation of cardiovascular and strength training equipment, and recommendation of appropriate wellness programs or personal training.
- Provides fitness orientations, training and fitness assessments to members.
- Must be able to design fitness programs suitable to clients that are safe and effective.
- Help maintain a clean and safe wellness center and facility

KNOW HOW:
- A minimum of one year of experience working in a YMCA wellness center or similar facility is required.
- Certification as a Personal Trainer with a national organization that tests theoretical knowledge and performance (ACE, NASM, ACSM NETA etc.) .
- Currently certified in CPR and AED or obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Ability to relate to Y members in a positive manner.
- Must be a highly motivated person with leadership ability and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of 2 years of college completed in a
- related field is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of exercise science is required, including functional anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition and injury prevention.
- Multilingual ability is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Must be able to lift and/or assist participants up to 180 pounds in weight.
- Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
- Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
