Wayside Publishing is seeking an experienced Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Agile development team. The SQA Engineer is an integral part of our collaborative team. In addition to testing our Learning Management System and writing/verifying defects, the SQA Engineer will take part in grooming meetings to ensure quality is considered from the very inception of a feature, will interact with customer support to help triage issues, and will work closely with integrations specialists to ensure all nuances of those integrations are tested.
Excellent communication skills, project management skills, and a keen eye for detail are essential to this role. The SQA Engineer must be able to learn in a meeting environment, to work with uncertainty while being a compassionate voice for consistency, and understand the software being developed as well as implications for decisions made. The SQA Engineer will be able to clearly describe the step-by-step process for reproducing a software bug, maintain a manual test plan, and help the team as it begins to research and implement an approach to automated testing. In a small, fast-paced team environment, this role needs to be able to balance work on several projects within the same software application at the same time and help the team identify and prioritize risk. Ultimately, the SQA Engineer is responsible for approving software for release.
