Description

Responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of all activities in the Home Care Center referring out of the ordinary issues to the director of cardiopulmonary services. Supervises and monitors performance of the center staff with physicians, hospital staff, patients and patients’ families and significant others to provide comprehensive care. Provides patient care as needed.

Requirements
  • Associate degree in related field
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support certificate (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Knowledgeable with respiratory equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Maintains current up to date knowledge of Laws, Regulations and standards that affect the organization and ensures department compliance
  • Collaborates with director of cardiopulmonary services to develop goals.
  • Responsible for developing the department Plan and Scope of Service for reviewing/updating it at least annually.
  • Develops and recommends operating budget in collaboration with director and Fiscal Services.
  • Monitors and assures compliance with allocated budget.
  • Conducts monthly center staff meetings. Assures that minutes include communication of the organization’s direction and operation. Distributes minutes to appropriate individuals.
  • Coordinates and integrates inter- and intra-departmental services.
  • Develops, revises and implements policies, procedures, systems and/or processes that guide and support the provision of services.
  • Assures uniform implementation through appropriate planning and collaboration with affected departments.
  • Maintains up to date department manuals which are easily accessible to staff.
  • Collects and records data correctly in data check per accreditation requirements.
  • Helps determine staffing needs and initial training requirements for department staff.
  • Recommends sufficient number and skills of staff required to effectively meet the departments responsibilities.
  • Determine Competence of department personnel.
  • Participates in interviews and onboarding staff and assures that qualifications are met
  • Demonstrates 100% of staff attends initial orientation/annual updates and department orientation.
  • Facilitates and/or coordinates in service and continuing education for department personnel.
  • Assures continuous assessment and improvement in the performance of care and/or services provided by the center.
  • Determines supply needs for department functioning.
  • Assures preventative maintenance is done as required on departmental equipment
  • Investigates and follows up on complaints, issues and occurrences regarding the department in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates that problem resolution is achieved.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

  • Timely notification to the director of cardiopulmonary services of potential problems or concerns. When faced with a problem or concern, is proactive by presenting suggested solutions at the time that the Department Manager/Director is made aware of the problem or concern.
  • Interacts with coworkers, other hospital staff, physicians, and the public in a courteous, professional and efficient manner
  • Understands and abides by all departmental policies and procedures as well as the Codes of Ethics, HIPAA requirements and patient rights.
  • Participates actively in ensuring that all state and federal rules and regulations are followed as they apply to this position.
  • Attends scheduled in-service and mandatory in-service. Communicates ideas to director for a safer layout of equipment, tools, and/or processes.
  • Understands the Continuous Quality Improvement Process and applies it in performing everyday tasks/duties. Active participant in Continuous Quality Improvement program by assisting in finding new and better ways of performing duties and responsibilities.
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database products.
  • Must be highly motivated and willing to assume additional jobs and duties as needed.
  • Must be able to handle stress of working efficiently with frequent interruptions and distractions.
  • Hours must be flexible to accommodate for needs of patients other unscheduled events.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and adhere to strict deadlines.
