Description

Reliance Pathology Partners, LLC is looking to hire a histotechnologist for its independent laboratory located in Tampa, 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs complex technical tasks due to high level of education and training. Performs cytoprep, and staining procedures on cytology specimens.
  2. Properly orients specimens while embedding and grossing. Cuts, mounts, and labels specimens, eliminating technical and transcription errors which could hinder diagnosis.
  3. Processes/dictates specimens at grossing bench as needed.
  4. Examines slides microscopically as needed to ascertain whether tissue elements and staining preparations are satisfactory.
  5. Consistently implements appropriate control mechanisms required to assure the quality of and special stains.
  6. Prepares solutions as outlined in the departmental manual.
  7. Assists with routine laboratory functions upon completion of technical workload.
  8. Accurately enters required data on worksheets and departmental logs.
  9. Performs special stains, DIF, and IHC
  10. Checks daily work for clerical accuracy, reporting errors to the technical supervisor.
  11. Performs and appropriately documents routine maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  12. Performs frozen sections in lab and on mobile frozen section unit.
  13. Drives mobile frozen section van as needed.
  14. Maintains a clean and professional workplace.
  15. Follows guidelines setup by HIPAA regulations.
  16. Follows safety guidelines as demonstrated in the safety manual.
  17. Consistently helps develop departmental policies and procedures and maintain CAP regulations.
Requirements

Education, Experience, Special Skills:

Associates degree or equivalent experience. Graduation from a State approved Histology program and/or ASCP Certification preferred. Florida State Licensure in Histotechnology is mandatory. Excellent technical skills and demonstration of independent judgment is required when performing procedures. Working knowledge of computers is required. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively with peers, management, and physician staff as well as dependability, flexibility and adaptability are required.
