The Operations Management Trainee works directly with the Operations leadership team and under the direction of the Warehouse Manager to develop leadership skills and learn warehouse manager responsibilities with the goal of absorbing the essential knowledge and skills for potential advancement. Additionally, this position can fill in for any warehouse position and can provide training and help schedule work for others. This person is willing to relocate within K&M footprint to pursue future manager opportunities


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Absorb training of all warehouse management related tasks.
  2. Rotate through different positions in the warehouse (and sometimes while visiting other warehouses) to gain understanding of how each warehouse position and shift operates.
  3. Help Warehouse Managers and Warehouse leadership positions complete the Warehouse Daily Standard Work tasks, including weekly and monthly tasks.
  4. Participate in, and sometimes create the agenda and lead, daily team meetings.
  5. Partner with Warehouse Manager on managing work volume demands through employee scheduling, and inbound and outbound delivery planning and scheduling.
  6. Participate in employee interviews and employee performance evaluations.
  7. Participate in training new warehouse employees.
  8. Learn to evaluate warehouse performance and complete a full warehouse evaluation on a monthly basis; helping identify process, employee, or scheduling improvements.
  9. Help manage and organize inventory, ensuring tires/products are in designated locations are organized to our standards and monthly cycle count targets are exceeded.
  10. Learn warehouse fleet management tasks, including scheduling and logging repairs, working with fleet manager on repair approval process while not interrupting delivery activities. Also learn and assist with driver electronic log books.
  11. Responsible for working safely at all times, including the proper usage or equipment seat-belts and order picker harnesses.
  12. Able to perform all job duties and responsibilities of Route Truck Driver Level I
  13. Able to perform all job duties and responsibilities of Warehouse Employee Level III
  14. Assist on operations related projects I.E. warehouse moves, Wise Inventory Software rollouts, etc.
  15. Support Warehouse Manager’s decisions and company goals.
  16. Support company goals and uphold K&M Values.
  17. Perform other duties as appropriate and assigned.

  6. Possess a friendly, helpful, positive attitude.
  7. Must possess strong listening skills and remain coachable.
  8. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds; 50 pounds on a continuous basis.
  9. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  10. Enforce safety and company policy and procedures.
  11. Ability to operate safely a fork lift, tire cart, pallet jack and order picker.
  12. Ability to work in an environment that is not climate controlled. Temperatures can be cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
  13. Must have a valid driver’s license and meet job requirements of Route Truck Driver I.
  14. Must be willing to travel up to 25% as needed.
