Cameron Memorial Community Hospital is a 25-bed, independent, not-for-profit facility that proudly serves Angola and Steuben County. We’ve been a cornerstone of this community and the surrounding area in northeast Indiana dating back to 1926. • Master’s Degree required.

• Minimum of 5 years of hospital/healthcare experience at the CFO or Controller level required.

• Hospital accounting and knowledge of revenue cycle in both inpatient and outpatient settings required.

• Strong preference for affiliation with HFMA.

• Must possess excellent communication skills both orally and written.


Reports to the Chief Executive Officer. Is responsible for the long term strategic and day-to-day financial operations of Cameron Memorial Community Hospital. The Vice President/CFO is responsible for the accuracy, compliance with regulatory agencies and organized security of financial records, data transmissions and reports. Coordinates and has responsibility for the budgeting process, electronic security along with both monthly and year-end financial and Medicare/External audits, bank reconciliations and any other special financial reports. Serves as liaison with outside financial and other agencies.

  • Selects, supervises and evaluates personnel in Fiscal Services, Business Office, Financial Services, Patient Access, HIM, Cameron Woods, Payroll, Facilities. Responsible for the operation and ultimate decisions of these departments.
  • Generates, or causes to be generated, accounting journal entries, monitors account balances, account coding and trial balance to insure at all times the general ledger accurately reflects the hospital’s financial situation and that unusual items are being reported.
  • Assures the preparation of accurate financial dashboard reports for directors, administration and Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the annual capital and operating budgets and year-end informational returns.
  • Ensures that account balances are reconciled and, if needed, corrected on a monthly basis.
  • Ensures all bank balances are current and ensures that bank statements are reconciled monthly.
  • Coordinates Cameron Memorial’s cash management program by ensuring that funds are deposited and transferred in an accurate and timely manner. Notifies the Chief Executive Officer when early indicators are present that funds may not be available and makes appropriate recommendations to administration and Board of Directors.
  • Coordinates the monthly departmental variance-reporting program.
  • Coordinates the monthly financial closing process to ensure that all functions are accurately completed and within allowed time frames, which will lead to the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
  • Coordinates the disbursement of funds for approved invoices and monthly accounts payable items.
  • Maintains highly confidential information on employee salaries, patient account data and financial operations.
  • Assists the President in special project assignments and in related operational and strategic financial concerns of the hospital.
  • Reviews all capital equipment purchases and new leases for Cameron Hospital.
  • Reviews contracts for financial approval.
  • Is responsible for the maintenance of third-party contract status (PPOs, HMOs, etc.).
  • Is responsible for maintaining liaison with other health care agencies and outside organizations as necessary.
  • Participates in strategic and long-range planning activities.
  • Takes the lead in proactively and regularly evaluating current operations for profitability and productivity and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommends to the President and the Board of Directors appropriate financial benchmarks and targets to assure alignment with strategic plan.
  • Assures participation in IHA benchmarking activities.
  • Assures compliance with USDA financial covenant indicators.
  • Responsible for oversight of investment activities.
  • Responsible for oversight, evaluation and recommendation for changes in hospital pension plans.
  • Works closely with other departments as needed in the area of financial assistance.
  • Responsible for analysis of the receivables aging of accounts to direct the focus of patient representative activity for follow-up of accounts.
  • Develop for implementation a long-range hospital strategic financial plan.
  • Serves on hospital committees and task forces as assigned.
  • When designated may act on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer in their absence.
  • Responsible for oversight of real estate transactions, tenant relationships and lease contracts.
  • Responsible for financial aspects of joint ventures.
  • Performs similar and related duties as directed.
