Director of Development
Description

At Brinkman, the Director of Development leads all aspects of the Development Team. This dynamic, highly collaborative role works closely with the highest levels of the organization to ensure execution and operational excellence, assess targeted development opportunities, and ensure selected projects are successfully completed. This role is also directly responsible for managing, mentoring and coaching internal team members, improving cross-functional processes, and fostering and sustaining relationships in the community. The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of the real estate/development markets, be highly energetic, adaptable and committed to the future growth and success of the company. 


This position will be an active member of the Brinkman Leadership Team, specifically accountable for the success of the development team as a whole, providing continued growth of internal, cross-functional team relationships, screening and feasibility analysis of targeted projects, supporting, developing, and training development team members through the design and entitlement process, providing guidance on research of general commercial real estate matters, and establishing standard operating procedures for the companies’ development process while keeping both collaboration and accountability as top priorities.

Requirements

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in real estate, development, construction management, finance, or architecture 
  • Graduate degree in real estate, development, or construction management is a plus 
  • Ten or more years’ experience in real estate or development, acting in roles of increasing responsibility, leadership, and knowledge of real estate and development markets

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • History of building and sustaining high performing teams that enhance company culture of accountability, employee engagement, and positive morale
  • Natural ability to lead others, provide direction to internal and external project teams
  • Strong commitment and ability to teach and train other team members
  • Proven development of complex projects in multiple asset classes
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and produce high quality results
  • Adept at performing feasibility analysis on targeted projects
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
  • Effective commitment to building and maintaining relationships and providing high touch internal and external customer service
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, time-management, and presentation skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and special projects
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel financial models; Argus experience a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a growing entrepreneurial company
