Title: ENGINEERING INTERN
Department: Water & Wastewater
Reports To: Project Manager
Education: Working toward a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Experience: Entry level position
Duties:
Assist the Project Manager in all phases of project design and project development
Prepare various components design calculations with oversight
Prepare various components of quantity calculations with oversight
Prepare various components of cost estimates with oversight
Prepare various components of plans with oversight
Work and coordinate with other internal departments
Assist in assembling Supplements, Proposals, and Engineer’s Reports
Meet deadlines
Alert Department Manager immediately upon realization of a problem on a project
Prepare Cost Estimates
Prepare various components of water and wastewater plans, specifications, and studies
Review Quantities
Assist with various phases of planning, design, and construction phases of projects
Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding our clients and company practices
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills:
Successful completion of environmental, hydraulics, water, and wastewater, etc. coursework, preferred
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Possess strong communication skills
Possess strong interpersonal skills
Possess excellent organizational skills
Able to work within a “team” concept
Proficient with a computer and Microsoft Excel and Word and working knowledge of AutoCAD
Must be able to attend evening meetings with clients as needed
Must be able to prepare permit applications
Must represent the firm professionally in public
Detail oriented
Physical Requirements:
Able to work seated for 9 or more hours per workday
Able to work 40 or more hours per work week, as needed
Able to work outdoors traversing uneven or difficult terrain
Able to travel throughout Indiana including overnight stays
Other Requirements:
Possess a valid Indiana driver’s license
