Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis

We are seeking a Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis to join our growing team!  We are looking for someone to lead, manage and evolve the financial planning and analysis function at miRagen.  This is an important hands-on role that will help the team build value-added insight into all financial and operational measures of the business by partnering closely with project management, department heads and team leaders to provide important financial analysis and decision support.  Primary responsibilities include:

• Lead and manage the company’s rolling multi-year forecast process 

• Develop and drive a plan to gain efficiencies and improve the effectiveness of financial planning and analysis at miRagen by evolving our current systems, processes and procedures

• Produce, maintain and analyze reports, dashboards and corporate metrics to satisfy internal and external stakeholders working closely with project management, department heads and the executive team

• Work closely with business leaders to monitor and assess financial results, identifying areas of operating efficiencies 

• Collaborate with accounting team to support the month end close by timely identifying and analyzing trends, discrepancies, and variances

• Work cross functionally to develop and/or assist in the development of longer-term commercial projections for the company’s product candidates

• Assistance the accounting and finance team with certain technical accounting areas and the company’s Sarbanes Oxley compliance program 

• Support senior management with financial presentations and analyses including quarterly Board of Director presentations


Qualifications and Required Skills

• A minimum five years of experience in financial planning and analysis 

• BS degree in finance, accounting, or business administration

• System, process and procedure implementation

• Life science/biotech experience preferred

• Strong analytical skills, including superior financial modeling skills

• Strong software applications and data management skills; ability to learn new software systems and tools

• Strong project management, planning, and organization skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

• Continuous improvement attitude; ability to independently seek out and implement internal or external best practices

• Highly organized with an attention to detail

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
