Industrial Engineer

Links Unlimited is seeking an Industrial Engineer to lead the development of efficiencies in our distribution center (DC). The Industrial Engineer works with the DC center Managers, Supervisors, and floor personnel to optimize productivity, product flow and the effectiveness of the distribution center by facilitating the use of continuous improvement methods, engineering methodologies and data analysis. This position is involved in understanding and improving everything from receiving on the docks, to put away in the racks, picking, replenishment, shipping, manpower requirements and rework. This position reports to the Director of Operations.



  • Apply engineering methodologies/tools such as product slotting, studying labor standards (time studies), layouts and optimization of flow, data profiling and analysis, and resource modeling to improve distribution and/or transportation operations
  • Develop advanced DC competencies in a wide range of engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards
  • Develop the overall productivity metrics and work standards for functional areas within the DC
  • Understand and design work to minimize the impact of repetitive movement, muscle strain and fatigue to avoid injury.
  • Monitor DC utilization


  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis on operations
  • Provide regular reports of data and actions to measure progress against the distribution center objectives
  • Drive process improvement activities in the key business metrics of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development
  • Have a 1, 3 and 6 month plan in progress at all times
  • Support continuous improvement using the fundamentals of a lean distribution model
  • Investigate documented inefficiencies and propose solutions
  • Design, implement, monitor and maintain the QMS based on established company and/or industry standards
  • Work in conjunction with the DOO to establish and maintain all policies and programs to assure a productive, efficient and safe working environment

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum of four years of related experience in the Distribution, Lean principals, Warehousing and/or Manufacturing, Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics industry is required
  • Functional experience with Lean tools, product slotting, distribution center MHE, studying Labor Standards (time studies), distribution layouts and optimization of flow, DC metrics, headcount rationalization and forecasting, data profiling
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and execute despite changes to project scope, scale, or deadline
  • Demonstrate ability to absorb new technologies and management techniques
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of compliance, regulatory, and technical processes and risks
  • Demonstrate initiative with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to prioritize and easily adapt to changes through the day
