We are seeking an experienced copywriter to join the Sun-Times team. Working alongside our lead copywriter as part of our small in-house marketing department, this position reports directly to the VP of Marketing.
The copywriter will be responsible for crafting compelling promotional and advertising content for digital, print, email and social media campaigns, and for directing editorial strategy on Sun-Times marketing projects. Much of our work focuses on promoting the Sun-Times’ journalism, with additional support provided across departments including sales, circulation, digital growth, and more. The right candidate will have a firm grasp of the Sun-Times brand, an intimate understanding of how to optimize messaging and voice for different platforms, and 3-5 years of experience working in marketing.
Develop and write promotional materials for Sun-Times products and events (including, but not limited to, editorial initiatives, special sections, community and virtual events, podcasts, sales campaigns, and circulation initiatives), including:
Support the lead copywriter in the development of messaging and campaign language for Sun-Times initiatives, including:
Work with the lead copywriter on all other marketing writing, including but not limited to:
Support the team in the digital delivery of content, including:
Edit and review a wide variety of written content.
Although we are working remotely at this time due to COVID restrictions, the person in this role would need to reside in the Chicagoland area and be available to come into the office as business needs dictate.
