 Job Summary

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Position Purpose:

The Production Team Leader leads production teams in an assigned production area at the Ayer manufacturing facility. The role involves ensuring the production of appropriate products in required quantities, maintaining high standards of quality within designated timeframes, optimizing processes for increased efficiency, reducing waste, and promoting a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely production in the required quantity.
  • Organize and optimize processes and methods to increase efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Collaborate with the supervisor to enhance safety, quality, and productivity across all production lines.
  • Motivate, coach, and assist production staff in meeting production requirements and develop a knowledgeable, flexible, and low-turnover workforce.
  • Assist in expediting production line setups and cover breaks on high-demand lines.
  • Support the supervisor in maintaining efficient production operations and documenting machine settings.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance production processes.
  • Act as a supervisor in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Ensure product quality and hygiene by monitoring and enforcing required GMP standards.
  • Monitor production processes and quality results, address quality problems promptly, and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
  • Participate in corrective action reviews and documentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and product safety within the production area.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Assist in providing new hire orientation and training.
  • Foster effective working relationships with employees and functional support departments for timely communication and execution of production schedules.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, address issues promptly, and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Assist the supervisor in improving production rates and help plan and organize overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with production machinery and teams.


  • High School Diploma.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
