Description
The Driver is responsible for loading their truck accurately, and making safe, professional, and timely pick-ups and deliveries of food while maintaining excellent relationships with food donors, partner agencies, and food recipients. The Driver will also assist as needed with running mobile distributions, or in the operations of the warehouse. Reports to the Director of Fleet Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Makes safety a priority and obeys all DOT and state laws and regulations
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections on electronic tablet
- Maintains Hours of Service with electronic log
- Loads and unloads trucks and trailers with electric pallet jack
- Safely operates a 4,000 pound capacity lift gate
- Assist in all warehouse functions as required including order selection and cleaning as needed
- Contributes to a positive work environment with a commitment to social justice
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- General knowledge of DOT and Connecticut laws and regulations as they apply to safe operation of trucks
- Experience operating fork lifts, powered pallet jacks and other motorized and non-motorized warehouse equipment
- CT CDL Class A or B Required
- Clearance on the Federal Safety Motor Carrier Administration (FSMCA) Clearinghouse
- Safe driving record
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds frequently (product) and up to 81lbs 12 times a day (truck lift gate)
- Communicates effectively with managers and coworkers
