Customer service in the selection of Lumber & Building Material products. Proficiency in forklift operation, product handling, and outstanding customer service. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
Greets customers who come to the Yard Sales office to purchase material. Provide assistance as needed. Engages customers in discussion about the CORE Product of the Month.
Process and invoice materials being paid for in the yard. Process other transactions and orders for all customers. These transactions include delivery orders, customer pickups, quotes and credits.
Opens and monitors assigned register/till each morning to receive payments for goods sold during workday.
Obtains credit authorization as necessary for sales.
Assists customers to load purchased material into customer’s vehicle within assigned work area. Resource to other yard areas of customer service.
Directs customers to additional pick up stations as necessary to complete order.
Maintains assigned work area in a neat and organized manner. Stock material, clean and arrange merchandise, and work with Purchasing to maintain stock level in assigned area.
Teams with Yard or Store management and receiving personnel to maintain overstock areas.
Responds to phone inquiries to solve problems, take orders, and sell product. Researches new or non-stock products to satisfy customer inquiries, within reason.
Reviews orders for ideas to expand services available to current customers/prospective customers.
Participates in “H” Builder initiative through account development & relationship building within the trade area. Contacts prospects to ascertain needs & explain features of services, costs & advantages, responding quickly to customer needs with complete, accurate information Progress evaluated by RSL growth & effective use of Loop system.
Performs inventory functions as necessary.
Confers with customers and management personnel to resolve concerns.
In some locations, may be assigned to:
• Assist in dispatch of delivery tickets
• Perform Yard receiving duties
• Assist in answering incoming phone calls when needed
• Research and process credits in a timely manner
Participates in all required training assignments and trade show attendance.
Displays teamwork and effort in performance of all duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to interview customers and help determine product needs/wants.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

Proficient in ECS Pro: sales, SKU lookup, creating orders/special orders, quotes, keeping minimum open orders
Various lumber & building material product knowledge
Basic estimating for common projects.
Forklift training and demonstrated continuing forklift operation competency required.
