Systems Engineer [Storage / Virtualization] [RQ28486]
Description

Works at various levels in the design and implementation phases of project engineering, as well as the operational management of the virtual infrastructure, storage, and databases, in multiple network enclaves. Must be able to install, configure, support, and troubleshoot all technologies used by the virtualization team. To include VMware vSphere, VMware View, NetApp clustering, and Microsoft SQL 2012. In depth knowledge of networking directly related to VMware(VLAN, DvSwitches, etc…) as well as fibre channel and iSCSI.  Must be experienced with multiple backup and recovery technologies to include Symantec NetBackup, Backup Exec, SnapMirror, and SnapManager.

Requirements

Responsible for ensuring that the VMware, storage, and Microsoft SQL environments are updated to latest approved version and is kept within compliance with the latest published DISA STIGs. Will be responsible for the design and implementation of new storage, virtualization, database, and backup solutions, and provide input for developing local operating procedures and policies. Must possess skills required to configure and tune monitoring for ongoing operations and maintenance of the storage systems and providing utilization and capacity reports to identify problems and corrective actions as needed. Will also troubleshoot performance problems and propose short term fixes and long term solutions. Coordinates and identifies various types of system requirements utilizing best practice requirement analysis methodologies. Works with the engineering review board and configuration management to ensure system documentation in the configuration library is kept current.  Responsible for the posturing and security compliance of systems, appliances, and devices within the vulnerability management system of record.

CASP (or other certification IAW DoD 8570.1 Technical Level III)  

One of the following Computing Environment Certifications is required

Database Certs

UNIX Sys Admin Cert

VMware Certified Professional 6 - Datacenter Virtualization (VCP6-DCV)

Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)

NetApp Certified Storage Associate (NCSA)


Special Requirements


Candidates must have an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Level Clearance

Willingness to work flexible hours

Shift work may be required

May be required to sign for equipment

On Call Status may be required
