Substance Abuse Technician (Client Care Specialist) – Full Time, Non-exempt, at Cedar House Life Change Center


Cedar House Life Change Center (CHLCC) is a 125-bed treatment facility, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation who was awarded Top Work Placed in 2021. Our organization encourages our employees to grow in their positions and promotes them from within the company. 


We are seeking a Substance Abuse Technician (Client Care Specialist) to join our team to continue to provide high quality Substance Abuse Treatment. 


As a member of the Treatment Team, you will be working alongside the Substance Abuse Technicians and Case Managers and reporting to the Client Care Supervisor.

Salary range for this position is $17.50 - $22.00 / Hour.

What You Will Do:

  • Conduct intake with all beneficiaries, including CalOMs forms, consent forms, ROI, assessments, and orientation to the program.
  • Manage bed assignments.
  • Maintain documentation in the beneficiary record, which includes intake notes, updated case notes, discharge notes, and shift reports.
  • Oversee the self-administration of medication.
  • Receive briefing from prior shift personnel on recent developments.
  • Observe and report beneficiary behavior to case managers and document in the beneficiary chart as well as shift report in HER.
  • Ensure beneficiaries attend all meetings and groups if physically able.
  • Conduct walk-throughs of facility and beneficiary rooms every 30 minutes and provide documentation of walkthroughs.
  • Knowledge of Confidentiality laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Answer telephones and become knowledgeable about referral procedures.
  • Monitor and record vitals of withdrawal management beneficiaries as instructed, conduct 30-minute close watch observation, and document the beneficiary record.
  • Complete continuing education and training as required by Cedar House, County, and State mandates.
  • Provide transportation of beneficiaries as needed.
  • Always maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

 What You Will Bring:


Our ideal candidate will have completed at least a High School Diploma/GED and the following credentials/skills:

  • Understanding the nature of alcohol/drug addiction and the recovery process.
  • Ability to address stressful situations calmly and be able to communicate positively.
  • Maintain current Adult CPR/First Aid/AED.
  • Maintain current CAADE, CADTP, and/or CCAPP registration/certification. Must be registered upon hire to one of the certifying boards and must be certified within five years. 
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Resourcefulness and strong problem-solving skills.
