JOB OVERVIEW

The Landscape Architect II will work alongside a team of designers to design and manage capital landscape improvement projects, and develop designs for fundraising initiatives and pro-bono projects that support neighboring communities. This position will report directly to the Senior Landscape Architect.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY JOB OUTCOMES

  • Gather historical and ecological site data to inform, identify, and assess site uses and constraints.
  • Prepare informed design studies and presentation drawings for multiple stakeholder and public agency approvals.
  • Participates in public meetings to explain proposed designs.
  • Produce and review contract drawings, cost estimates, and specifications for frequent project milestones.
  • Review cost estimates and budgets and recommend adjustments for construction projects.
  • Work collaboratively with the Resident Engineer to bring the project to a successful built completion.
  • Review submittals, make field inspections, and report to supervisor concerning progress of projects during construction administration. 
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with public agencies, consultants, contractors, architects, planners and engineers.
  • Participates in developing the culture of the Alliance through multiple focus groups and cross-staff initiatives.

Performs other job-related duties and functions as assigned

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s or Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in landscape architecture; construction administration experience preferred.
  • Experience presenting and communicating design concepts.
  • Experience with ADA and DOB filing preferred but not required. 
  • New York State Landscape Architecture License preferred but not required.
  • A valid/unexpired Driver’s License.

Technology: Proficient with technologies that support areas of responsibility including G-Suite , Autocad, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino or other 3D modeling software. 


WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work is performed both in an interior office setting which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unusual elements and in the field, which subjects the employee to various external elements including potentially adverse weather conditions.
  • Requires operating a motor vehicle, standing for extended periods of time, use of a desktop, laptop or video display terminal and identifying and distinguishing colors and shades of color.
  • Requires minor physical exertion - lifting, pushing, and carrying, etc. up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires communicating information with co-workers, stakeholders and/or the public; reading correspondence, instructions and/or technical documents; writing correspondence and/or reports and filling in forms.
  •  This position requires full vaccination from COVID-19 on or before the start of employment .
