Hilltop is seeking a Paralegal to add to our growing Corporate Office team. This position will work closely with the Chief Investment Officer to support Hilltop’s investment team in coordinating the acquisition, disposition and financing of multifamily transactions. Hilltop Residential was founded in 2017 and currently owns and operates $1 billion of multifamily properties throughout the major markets in Texas and the southeastern United States.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the acquisition, disposition, and financing processes of large multifamily properties
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of real estate contracts, the principles of multifamily property transactions and institutional title and escrow process and procedures
  • Coordinate the execution and delivery of closing documents and other contracts
  • Work closely with and support department members, including preparing documents for signature, mailing, filing, printing, and scanning
  • Set up and coordinate information storage system and fulfills requests to obtain stored information
  • Notary (or willingness to obtain notary certificate)
  • Review deeds, deeds of trust, liens, easements, and plats/maps to determine ownership, encumbrances, and to verify legal descriptions of property
  • Coordinate entity filings, EIN creation, and other administrative items
  • Assist with due diligence for a variety of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and financings
  • Prepare closing checklists and coordinate the closing process for various transactions
  • Work closely with CIO, Hilltop teams and external partners to obtain approval to close transactions in a timely and error-free manner
  • Perform other projects as requested to support Hilltop’s Corporate team
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of recent and relevant transactional and corporate experience
  • Paralegal certification a plus
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail and organizational skill
  • Demonstrated accuracy while working at a fast pace and under tight deadlines
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of independence and discretion on business-critical matters
  • Expert Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Unwavering integrity, coachable, team player, humble

This position reports directly to the Chief Investment Officer and will office out of our Corporate Office located at 9 Greenway Plaza in Houston, TX.
