Data Analyst
Description

The Data Analyst will play a critical role in supporting Alliance in making data-driven decisions. This position will be required to work closely with project leads, the IT project manager, product development and the program management office (PMO) as well as with partner organizations and community based organizations.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with data strategy team to develop repeatable ETL solutions to support internal and external reporting needs. 
  • Support account management, business analyst, DBA, and data manager to provide data analysis that supports Alliance strategic initiatives and VBP contracting obligations. 
  • Leverage advanced statistical analysis methods to create insightful recommendations and conclusions. 
  • Establishes and maintains processes, procedures and guidelines for ingestion of new data sources and to ensure continuous improvement QA processes.  
  • Responsible for performing activities related to database development, data review and maintenance of specific data management documentation.  
  • Identify and address expected and unforeseen data complexities to mitigate their impact on the analytic outcome and associated business decisions.  

 



Requirements

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Experience in Population health experience, computer science, statistics, public administration, finance, public health, or a related field
  • NYS Medicaid experience
  • Able to present data to key decision makers and clients
  • Familiarity with Salient and use of the Medicaid Data Warehouse 
  • Strong communications and client services skills.   
  • Health industry analytic experience 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills   
  • Understanding of relational databases  
  • Strong SQL programming skills   
  • Experience with data collection, merging data and analysis of data sets  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, and Power point . 
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to perform complex analysis and make recommendations  based on statistical inferences,
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate goals, plan and implement processes to achieve those goals, recognize and assess the implications of confounding variables, and meet deadlines 
  • Advanced interpersonal (e.g., mediating, mentoring, teaching) skills required to service internal and external clients effectively. 
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently, and to exercise independent judgment in developing complex techniques or programs in a dynamic environment.
