Our mission at SELF is to empower schools to create welcoming and effective communities that enable ALL students to achieve their fullest potential. We aim to improve the quality of special education student outcomes by developing current and aspiring special education teacher-fellows, leader-fellows, and leadership teams through a variety of specialized programs.
SELF’s unique and specialized programming includes:
Our Core Values guide what and how we do our work and interact with each other and all of our partners:
Belief: We believe that every student, regardless of their identity and learning style, can achieve at their highest potential.
Responsibility: It is our responsibility to use our own talents and capacities in order to ensure that the mindsets and systems are in place for our students to have equitable, inclusive, and anti-bias classroom spaces.
Teamwork: We prioritize collaboration to ensure a stronger sense of belonging. We lead ourselves and others in a way that places all students at the center of our work.
Position Overview: Outside of our two Fellowships, SELF trains leadership teams through work we call the “HUB” and conducts a variety of individualized consulting engagements, which we refer to as “School Support”. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for all of the operational work (eg. program logistics, communication, and follow-up) for all of our School Support programming.
SELF has a Program Manager that works specifically on providing operational support to the two Fellowships. The Program Coordinator will have their own areas of responsibility but will work collaboratively to build and share systems and best practices.

Manage School Support work plans: SELF builds detailed work plans for all of their events and programs. The Program Coordinator will use an established template to build out work plans to proactively plan for events, keep other team members updated on their agreed upon responsibilities, and ensure all deadlines are met.
Act as the “producer” for School Support events: SELF has returned to hosting in-person professional development events while still hosting virtual programming. This role will provide a combination of in-person logistics and tech support for online meetings. For each event, a team member acts as a “producer” ensuring that the logistics are set up and managing all of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the zoom meeting (e.g. timers, slides, breakout rooms etc.) so that the program lead can focus on facilitating the meeting. The Program Coordinator will also manage pre and post meeting communications, coordinate with external guest speakers, and organize feedback surveys.
Special projects: SELF is a collaborative and dynamic team. The Program Coordinator may provide operational and logistics support on other SELF programming and/or special projects as needed.
This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who:
Manager Relationship: The Program Coordinator will report to the Program Manager.
